The design team took up the challenge of creating a permanent exhibition room within a "museum", the themes 01 which are based around the recreation 01 historical periods. The transition from rooms in which the objects on display form part of the actual decoration to one in which the exhibits are displayed in cases represents a break in the circulation route used by visitors lo the palace. It was through the interconnection of the display cases that we sought to first catch the eye. The period furniture gives way to a series of morphologically identical pieces which provide the backdrop to the room. The room is composed of interstitial spaces, such as the false wall of the show-case aquarium which restores the symmetry of the room, or the "Chinese corridor" which dominates the centre of the room.
